We’re Hiring: Assembly Specialist
Nokomis, IL | Full-Time | Manufacturing | On-Site

POSITION CLASSIFICATION: Regular, Full-Time
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO:  Team Supervisor
SUPERVISES: N/A

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Assembly Specialist works on one of several assembly lines at Ronk Electrical Industries to help build, wire and test load transfer switches, phase converters, power converters, docking stations, and other products. This position is typically cross-trained and assigned where needed within our different production teams: Switch Team and Phase Converter Team. This role will work with various team members to build sub-assemblies and finished goods. The product Assembler should expect variety in their work, depending on the needs of the production teams on any given day.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Read and comprehend instructions represented in manuals, drawings, schematics, hands-on demonstrations …  
· Follow instructions with precision to deliver final products that are assembled as designed.
· Use proper hand tools, wire cutters, crimpers and machines to assemble or build electrical products.
· Mount assembled components, such as transformers, resistors, capacitors, circuit boards, and relays on main frame assemblies.
· Connect component wires to circuits and connect wire between individual component leads.
· Install finished assemblies or subassemblies in cases or cabinets.
· Self-check assembled work to ensure high quality results.
· Maintain tools, equipment and workstation clean and in good condition.
· Keep records of production quantities and time and manage component part stock within the work area.
· Report on issues, malfunctions, or defective parts. · Participates in continuous improvement activities.  
· Adjust or repair electrical equipment.
· Fabricate or modify parts, using shop equipment.
· Correct defects.
· Verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to specifications using instruments, such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
· Test functional performance.
· Move material for assembly by overhead hoist, hand cart, powered forklift, etc.
· Follow all regulations, policies and procedures for health, safety and environmental compliance including wearing all necessary personal protective equipment as required
· Completes other work and tasks as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE):
· High school diploma or GED is required; Coursework or a technical education in electrical theory, or a related subject is highly beneficial.  
· Must have an interest in and aptitude for working with electrical wiring, assembly of electrical components, troubleshooting or repair; prior work experience is highly desirable.  
· Ability to read, understand, and interpret detailed work instructions, drawings, plans.  
· Ability to use tools (e.g. wrenches) and machines (e.g. presses).
· Good communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to make independent decisions, think critically and take ownership for work output.
· Positive attitude, good team player and willingness to proactively accept instructions, feedback and change.

PHYSICAL ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
· Has the ability to lift or transport product up to 50-75 lbs.  
· Can stand for prolong periods of time;  up to 6 hours per day.
· Ability to walk / move around the facility with ease.
· Possesses strong visual acuity and manual dexterity, to perform intricate and detailed wiring and assembly work, when needed.
· Excellent hand-eye coordination.
· Can utilize various hand tools such as wrenches, cranks, power tools, crimpers, wire stripper,and soldering tools.
· Ability to operate a forklift (OSHA certification provided on the job)
